DV-2016 entrants, the countdown says we still have only 5 days before the official results! fingers crossed for you!!

In this topic, we will try to understand the difference between a Case Number ( CN ) and a Confirmation Number ( CN too, but we use CN for a case number only ).

As we all know, entrants have registered their applications for DV-2016 entry back in October 2014 ( between Oct 1st & Nov 3rd ), so the results are on May 5th 2015 at 12 noon EDT ( equivalent to 4 PM GMT ).

When we have applied, each one has received a final web page showing the successful entry notice ( Submission Confirmation: Entry Received ). that page actually contains some important information we need to save them so as to check our entry statuses starting from Tuesday May 5th, 2015 – those information are:

    Entrant Name: –, —
    Confirmation Number: 2016—
    Year of Birth: —-
    Digital Signature: —-

Briefing: the Confirmation Number is a tool we use to check the entry status, and if we won, then we will have a Case Number (CN) assigned to our case, which will be like 2016AFXXXXX. we should post more topics in future explaining how CNs are assigned and used to organize interviews for visa applicants in the US embassies and consulates.

I didn’t win, where is my Case Number ? – Only winners have Case Numbers, you need to win to have one too!

To sum up, a confirmation number helps you retrieve your Case Number as a winner through the entrant status check website dvlottery.state.gov/ESC .
