After looking at 26 token announcements, we’re picking DBrain as our ICO of the day. DBrain is a crowdsourced AI training platform.

Premise

AI is going to change our world – but first, it needs to be trained. The predominant form of AI today – neural networks – requires training on large data sets, and that means human intervention at first.

To provide these huge datasets, – Tesla records and sends data from its thousands of cars and Google logs countless miles and uses human training through its Recaptcha services. But not everyone has these resources.

DBrain lets the smaller companies of the world access quality AI training at scale by incentivizing AI training. Through a simple and beautiful interface, crowdsourced workers can earn DBR(DBrain Coin) for doing simple training tasks similar to the reCaptcha tasks you’ve probably encountered before. These include object detection, speech recognition, classification, facial recognition, and more.

DBrain is a blockchain platform for developing AI apps, which sounds like a marketer tried to cram as many buzzwords as possible into a sentence, except it’s accurate – and it has a working product.

The biggest problem with AI right now is training it correctly. AI needs data, and it needs to be able to understand or interpret in ways similar to a human. DBrain solves this by incentivizing humans to label data that is being used to train AI.

DBrain has four aspects. The first part is that data used to train AI is uploaded to the system. The second part is where labelers – everyday folks like you and me – log onto my.dbrain.io and label data for DBrainCoins(DBR). Using those labels, data scientists can train the AI. Finally, businesses can use those AI for their applications.

Unlike many other AI blockchain projects, DBrain has a very clear business scenario already mapped out, with clear incentives for both AI developers/data scientists and labelers. Best of all, there is a working product you can try yourself at my.dbrain.io

Team

The team currently consists of just 4 people, but they’re relatively strong, with relevant experience in AI and a history of execution. The CEO is a successful entrepreneur with a $20 million exit from an AI startup. The CTO also has strong experience in AI. Normally we would want to see a larger team, especially with more blockchain developers, but the scope of this project is not very large and there is even already a front-end prototype, so we don’t see execution being a challenge.
